In lieu of a culminating recital, dancers in the Elementary, Intermediate, Advanced, and Adult Programs will have the option to partake in Alamo City Art's Spring Dance Production on May 28 and 29.
Students in Creative Movement and Dance Foundations will have a Spring Celebration of Learning on Tuesday, May 24 and Wednesday, May 25.
What is a Celebration of Learning? This informal demonstration will allow the Creative Movement and Dance Foundations students to showcase the technical, social, and behavior skills they have cultivated throughout the year at Alamo Arts Academy.
Why a Celebration of Learning instead of a recital? There are many reasons that the artistic team has opted out of a recital for beginning level students. First and foremost, we want to keep the focus in class on building technical ability through exercises instead of only working on a single piece of choreography. Through our combined experience, we have found that focusing only on recital dances tends to distract from a full year of student learning. By creating the Celebration of Learning, younger students will be presented in a low-stress, familiar surrounding that will provide positive first experiences.
