A Midsummer Night's Dream Performance Fee

$100.00

The performance fee for all cast members is $100.00, regardless of the number of roles. Performance fees support the production. Performance fees are non-refundable, except in the case of a cast member terminated (not including absentee issues) from the cast by the Director, in which case the fee will be returned. If a cast member chooses to leave the production, the fee will not be refunded.

Performance fees help cover the cost of our production. Your $100 performance fee helps pay for your costumes, alterations, props, rehearsal hours and overall theater costs. We do not want the cost of this production to prevent you or your dancer from participating. If you are having a hard time covering your costs, please speak to a representative about payment options.

I was cast! Now what?

Check your email!
Important information will be sent by 7pm on January 24th to the email used at auditions.  This is our primary method of communication.  If you do not get the email please reach out to [email protected]
Orientation

All dancers who accept their roles are required to attend a mandatory orientation meeting on January 31st at 1:00 PM. A great deal of important information will be covered regarding schedules, expectations, and production details, so punctuality is essential. Please plan to arrive on time and stay for the full meeting.
Performance Fee
There is a $100 performance fee for each dancer who participates in the production. This is a flat fee and does not change based on the number of roles or parts a dancer is cast in. Members of Alamo City Dance Company will receive a discounted rate on this fee. Details regarding payment deadlines and the discounted amount will be provided at orientation.

Rehearsal Schedule
Rehearsal dates and times will depend on the specific roles in which a dancer is cast. At registration, dancers will be asked to list their availability for the coming months. Every effort will be made to accommodate schedules, but availability ma
y affect casting decisions. A complete rehearsal schedule will be distributed at orientation.
Standard rehearsal times are Fridays from 7:00–9:00 PM and Saturdays from 1:00–5:00 PM. Some Sundays and select weekdays may be added as we approach the performance dates.

Attendance Expectations
Rehearsal attendance is mandatory. Because this is a large ensemble production and time in the studio is limited, consistent attendance is critical to the success of the show. In fairness to the entire cast, any dancer who misses more than three rehearsals will be required to forfeit their role.

Absence Procedure
If a dancer must miss a rehearsal, an absentee form must be submitted as soon as the conflict is known. Absences submitted after a rehearsal has already begun will be considered unexcused. All known conflicts must be reported through the Rehearsal Absentee Form no later than February 8th. If more than three rehearsals are missed, the dancer will be asked to relinquish their part.
Acceptance of Roles
Please review cast lists carefully. Due to the structure of this production, dancers are required to accept all roles assigned to them or decline all roles. If there are extenuating circumstances that make fulfilling all assignments difficult, the Artistic Staff is happy to discuss them, but final casting decisions will remain with the Artistic Team.
Preparation and Training
This is a classical ballet production, and regular ballet class attendance is essential. Ongoing training builds stamina, prevents injury, and helps dancers maintain and improve technique. Because rehearsal time is limited and choreography and blocking must be set efficiently, dancers are expected to arrive prepared, focused, and ready to work.
Punctuality
Dancers must arrive on time, warmed up, and ready to begin dancing at the scheduled rehearsal start time.
What to Bring
Dancers may bring water and their dance shoes into the studio. Large bags should be left in the dressing room area. While the space will be monitored, valuables should be left at home.
Snacks and Food
For longer rehearsals, dancers are encouraged to bring light snacks. Food may be stored in the refrigerator. Alamo City Arts will provide water and healthy snacks when available, on a first-come, first-served basis.
Dress Code
Female-identifying dancers: A clean, solid-color leotard (black or pink preferred), pink tights, and pink ballet shoes are required. Hair must be neatly secured off the face, with a bun preferred for hair longer than shoulder length. Ballet skirts are permitted but may be removed if they interfere with choreography. Special character skirts or tutus may be assigned and will be discussed individually.
Male-identifying dancers: A fitted black or white shirt, black or white pants, and black ballet shoes are required unless otherwise specified. Long hair must be secured away from the face.
Personal Hygiene
Because dancers work in close proximity, good hygiene is essential. Deodorant, mints, and a personal towel (changed daily) are strongly recommended for all dance bags.
Studio Care
Dancers are expected to clean up after themselves in both the studio and dressing rooms. This includes disposing of water bottles, hair pins, toe pads, tape, and any personal items.
Shoes and Warm-Ups
Dancers must arrive and depart in cover-ups or warm-ups and street shoes. Ballet shoes should never be worn outside of the studio.
Parent Access
Parents are not permitted to observe or remain in rehearsals. If a dancer is experiencing separation anxiety or is new to this environment, arriving early can help ensure a smooth and calm transition into rehearsal.
