Principal Second Violin

​Symphony Viva, a dynamic, award-winning, high-level volunteer concert and ballet orchestra based in San Antonio now in its 11th year of music-making, is accepting materials for the position of Principal Second Violin (a volunteer opportunity) for the initial trial period of the upcoming 2026- 2027 season.

Qualified candidates should be willing to commit to the entire season (see schedule below) and possess (or be working toward) at minimum a bachelor’s degree in music, strong playing and leadership skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with Symphony Viva’s Music Director, the orchestra’s advisory board, and the Alamo City Arts executive leadership. Symphony Viva’s regular season schedule currently includes six orchestra-only concert cycles between September and April (including an education concert), two full-length ballets in December and June, and the possibility of other smaller projects, productions, and/or solo engagements with the orchestra.

Please provide the following:

  1. Current CV/Resume
  2. Links to two or more videos and/or audio recordings of recent performances(preferable within the last 2-3 years and no more than 15 minutes in total length) via YouTube or Google Drive.
  3. Repertoire should include two contrasting works or orchestral excerpts from the standard repertoire. Both the recording date, and repertoire should be clearly indicated.  ​

Application Deadline: June 26th, 2026

Review of Materials will begin June 26th. Selected candidates will be invited for an audition and interview in early July.

Alamo City Symphony Viva Performance Dates

Orchestra-only concert cycles consist of a four-rehearsal Thursday-Sunday schedule, while ballets and education concerts run for the whole week- weekday rehearsals are typically held from 7:00-9:30pm. For more information, please contact the Music Director.
