The Transformative Power of the Arts

Alamo City Arts: Transformative Power of the Arts

About Alamo City ArtsAlamo City Arts (ACA) is committed to inclusive education in dance, theater, and music, fostering a deep appreciation for the performing arts through both instruction and performance.
We fulfill this mission by training aspiring and professional artists in a safe, supportive environment while producing accessible, high-quality productions that reach across San Antonio’s diverse communities.

Vision StatementTo be a beacon of creativity and inclusiveness, enriching lives through the transformative power of the arts. ACA envisions a community where artistic expression thrives — fostering cultural appreciation, collaboration, and opportunity for all. We are dedicated to strengthening San Antonio’s cultural fabric through performances, outreach, and partnerships that celebrate creativity and connection.

History & GrowthFounded in 1992 as a small dance company, Alamo City Arts has grown into a vibrant multidisciplinary nonprofit organization with eight active branches:
  • 2018: Launch of Symphony Viva expanded our reach into orchestral music.
  • 2021: Formation of Alamo City Arts Academy, offering professional-level training in various dance disciplines. Addition of Heart of Texas Concert Band and Memory Lane Dance Band broadened our musical reach.
  • 2023: Launch of Alamo City Ballet Folklorico, honoring Mexican cultural traditions through dance.
  • 2024: Establishment of Alamo City Stage Company, presenting inclusive, high-quality theatrical productions.
  • 2025: Expansion into mariachi education through the Alamo City Mariachi Academy, aligning with our community’s cultural heritage and growing interests.
