LOVE AND DEATH
These intertwining themes have long woven their way through some of the most dramatic and heart-wrenching music in the Classical canon. From Bizet's tragic story of Carmen, to Berlioz's fantastical musical depiction of love and even his own execution in Symphonie Fantastique, composers have drawn great inspiration from romance and tragedy. Join Symphony Viva as we explore works both old and new, including a world premiere performance of Miguel del Aguila's new string orchestra and clarinet transcription of his work Silence, and perhaps the most famous symphonic work on the subject, Tchaikovsky's masterful setting of Romeo and Juliet.
