Pastorale Picturesque landscapes, fantastical imagery, and stunning beauty weave this nature-themed program together. The nuance and sensuousness of Mallarme’s poetry comes to life in Debussy’s Prelude, and Symphony Viva Concertmaster Eric Siu joins the orchestra in Vaughan-Williams’s ravishing work The Lark Ascending. The concert concludes with one of Beethoven’s most beloved and recognizable symphonies, an elegant, whimsical, and powerful tribute to nature.
Debussy: Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun
Vaughan-Williams: The Lark Ascending Eric Siu, violin
Beethoven: Symphony No. 6 in F Major (“Pastorale”)
