Established in Nov 2023 under the direction of Jesus Vazquez, Alamo City Ballet Folklorico is an award-winning group dedicated to preserving San Antonio’s Hispanic roots by providing a professional learning environment to develop dancers within the authentic Mexican folklore by celebrating, cultivating, and enriching our heritage through education, cultural exchanges, artistic performances, workshops, competitions and more.
Dance With Us! Ready to be part of our award-winning dance group? We welcome passioned and committed dancers ages 13+ regardless prior dance experience, just bring your enthusiasm and willingness to learn and promote Mexican culture through dance! Dancers’ evaluation and placement are at Director’s discretion based on stamina, rhythm, footwork and skirt-work technique, body coordination, attitude, and stage presence. Performance Company guidelines:
Mandatory company rehearsals are Fridays from 6 to 8 PM at Alamo City Arts.
Dancers are required to enroll in a folklorico class with Alamo City Arts Academy according to the level assigned by the Director.
Dancers are required to wear proper black fitted clothes and heeled folklorico shoes to rehearsals.
Female dancers require a black folklorico skirt at ankles end length with a double ruffle and marigold accents.
