• Sick dancers should stay home and may request at-home conditioning work.
• Excessive absences, especially near a performance, may result in removal from that production.

5. Courtesy and Respect
Bullying of any kind is strictly prohibited. Dancers must uphold high standards of conduct and treat all instructors, staff, and dancers with respect.
Negative behavior includes:
• Physical or verbal aggression
• Harassment or intimidation
• Inappropriate electronic communication, including social media and group chats

All behavior must comply with David’s Law. Violations will be handled through progressive discipline: verbal warning, probation, and possible dismissal.

6. Performance and Engagement Restrictions
From June 1, 2026 through May 31, 2027, dancers may not perform, teach, choreograph, audition, or participate in dance-related work within a 50-mile radius of Alamo City Arts or any ACA performance venue without written approval from the Artistic Director.

Unauthorized participation is considered harmful to ACA’s branding and programming and may result in disciplinary action.

7. Dress Code

12. Insurance
Dancers must maintain personal insurance coverage. Dancers are responsible for any liability arising from their participation.

13. Write-Ups
Contract violations will be documented through a formal write-up system.
Three write-ups in a semester will result in termination of the contract and ineligibility for the following year.

14. Communication Expectations for Dancers Sixteen and Older
Dancers who are sixteen or older, and/or dancers who receive payment for performances, are expected to manage their own communication with the Artistic Director and artistic staff. This includes scheduling, availability updates, rehearsal conflicts, and general company matters.
Parents may be copied for awareness, but communication must originate from the dancer unless there is a documented special need or an approved extenuating circumstance.
This policy prepares dancers for the expectations of professional companies and reinforces independence, reliability, and accountability. Failure to communicate directly and professionally may result in a write-up or may affect eligibility for paid work.

15. Talent Agencies and Outside Representation
Alamo City Arts and Alamo City Dance Company do not work with outside talent agencies, managers, or personal representatives when assigning roles, casting dancers, or arranging company work.
Agents, managers, or parents may not negotiate on behalf of dancers for any Alamo City Arts programming, casting, scheduling, or performance opportunities. All communication must be handled directly between the dancer (or the parent if the dancer is under sixteen) and the Artistic Director.

16. Paid Performance Opportunities
Company dancers may be invited to participate in paid performance opportunities throughout the season. These opportunities are not guaranteed and are offered on a case-by-case basis depending on casting needs, professionalism, and availability.
A written contract or agreement will be provided for each paid opportunity.
To be eligible for paid engagements, dancers must be in good standing:
• Tuition must be current
• Attendance requirements met
• Professional attitude and communication
• No excessive write-ups

Payment for paid productions will be issued after completion of the individual event.
