In August of 2016, Joey Galvan put out a call to the musician community for a benefit concert to help the victims of the Pulse Nightclub Shooting. After immediate success of the benefit concert, a few of the musicians got together and talked about forming a formal orchestra to fill the need for a regional repertory orchestra in San Antonio. In 2018, Symphony Viva was approached by Alamo City Performing Arts to play in their annual production of The Nutcracker. After a few meetings, it became apparent that the best way to fulfill both organization's Missions and Visions, was to have Symphony Viva become a part of Alamo City Performing Arts. In 2020, an official search for a permanent Director for Symphony Viva was started. The results should be in by the end of Summer 2020.
