The Alamo City Dance Company was founded in 1991 by Nancy Grossenbacher and Scott Conway. Under the direction Mr. Conway, the Alamo City Dance Company (ACDC) was formed as a semi-professional repertory dance company. Performing a myriad of dance styles including ballet, tap, jazz, classical modern, contemporary, and some forms of ethnic dance, ACDC became known as one of San Antonio's most diverse dance groups. ACDC has re-staged and commissioned numerous full length ballets for San Antonio audiences to enjoy, including The Nutcracker, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Lepidoptera, and Dracula. In 2000, the company established the Junior Alamo City Dance Company in an effort to include and reward young students that sought membership in the main company. In 2008, Mrs. Grossenbacher retired and Mr. Conway became the sole Director of the Alamo City Dance Company. During his tenure as Director, Mr. Conway would conceive and direct the annual Fall Festivals, and Northside Arts Festival in the Spring. 2018 was a year of huge growth for Alamo City Arts; the Alamo City Dance Company presented San Antonio's first-ever Sensory-Friendly Production of The Nutcracker in collaboration with Eva's Heroes and ACA officially acquired Symphony Viva, and The Nutcracker was presented with a live symphony orchestra for the first time in our history. In 2020, Katie R Hall was named the new Artistic Director of the Alamo City Dance Company.
