Andrew Sutton, principal bass
Andrew Sutton began playing as most kids do by taking orchestra as an elective in 5th grade. Beginning on cello, Andrew switched to double bass in high school and found his calling in that decision. He attended Northwestern State University of Louisiana on a full scholarship then transferred to the University of Houston. While still in school, Andrew began playing with a number of regional symphonies while also working on other musical pursuits. In 2012, Andrew and his family moved to the San Antonio area where he began teaching orchestra to 5th and 6th graders After establishing new roots, he began playing in the Laredo Philharmonic, Victoria Symphony and more. He is a founding member and principal bassist of Alamo City Symphony Viva in San Antonio and also performs in the "period informed" baroque ensemble Sonido Barroco and now teaches Junior High and High School Orchestra classes in the area.
