SATURDAYS, from 11AM-12:30PM.

REQUIREMENTS FOR COMPANY PLACEMENT

Placement
Placement in The Alamo City Dance Company is based on the following criteria:
  • movement potential
  • commitment level
  • enthusiasm
  • attitude
  • attendance
  • stage presence
Company Class Attendance & Time Commitment
Each dancer is allowed up to three (3) absences from Company classes for the 2022-2023 season.
More than 3 missed company class will result in a termination of this contract.
Special exceptions may be made in extenuating circumstances at the discretion of the Artistic Director. 
Apprentices, Corp de Ballet, Soloists and Principals are required to attend weekly Company Class, on Saturdays from 11-12:30PM.
Trainees and Jr. Trainees are required to attend weekly Company Class, on Fridays from 6-7pm.
Alumni are exempt from company class if they provide proof of registration in a college level or club level dance classes and attend a college or university that is greater then 45 miles away from Alamo City Arts Academy.

Movement Maintenance Requirements 
Alamo City Dance Company Alumni members are required to submit a Movement Maintenance Report each month from their home school. This document will ask the owner/director/principal of their main school for technique to affirm that they are enrolled in and regularly attending: 
  • Two (2) Ballet classes per week.
  • one (1) Modern or somatic (Progressing Ballet Technique, yoga, Pilates) class per week or one (1) class of choice in the other varieties of disciplines (Jazz, Tap, Hip-Hop, Flamenco, Ballet Folklorico de Mexico, etc.)

Alamo City Dance Company Corps de Ballet/Soloist members are required to submit a Movement Maintenance Report each month from their home school. This document will ask the owner/director/principal of their main school for technique to affirm that they are enrolled in and regularly attending: 
  • three (3) Ballet classes per week (Company classes may count towards this total)

The purpose of these requirements is to ensure the safety of the dancers through rigorous attention to bodily discourses and maintain a sense of integrity in the range of style for each dancer as well as promote cohesion and unity throughout the company.
 
Regular attendance in all dance classes is expected of Company members. If a Movement Maintenance Report illustrates excessive absences from any one-dance class, there will be an evaluation for disciplinary action or even dismissal from the Company. 
 
Injury and Illness
 
Company members must be present in ALL their classes and rehearsals for the two weeks prior to every performance. Sick or injured dancers are to stay home to not spread illness and should try to do exercises at home to stay in shape. Please reach out to Artistic Staff for resources to make this happen.

Courtesy & Respect
The dancer shall act at all times with due regard to public morals, conventions and ACA policies.  If the dancer shall have committed or does commit any act, or if dancer shall have conducted or does conduct themselves in a manner, which shall be an offense involving moral turpitude under federal, state or local laws, or which might tend to bring dancer to public disrepute, contempt, scandal or ridicule, or which may embarrass, offend, insult or denigrate individuals or groups, or that may shock, insult or offend the community or Alamo City Arts or public morals or decency or prejudice to Alamo City Arts, or which results in or is likely to result in actual or threatened claims against Alamo City Arts, or which otherwise may might tend to reflect unfavorably upon Alamo City Arts, Alamo City Arts shall have the right to terminate this Agreement upon notice to dancer given at any time following the date on which the commission of such act, or such conduct, shall have become known to Alamo City Arts.
  • All Company members will be held to the highest standards of conduct. Communicating negatively about anyone in or outside our studio will not be tolerated.
  • Company members are expected to show courtesy and respect to all instructors and other students. 
  • Any Company member who exhibits repeated negative or disrespectful behavior will be asked to leave the Company. 
  • Negative behavior constitutes any physical actions, verbal actions or negative actions that take place by means of electronic communication (i.e. group chats, social media, texting etc.) 
  • Based on the seriousness and nature of the actions, there may be a first verbal warning, followed by a probation period, with the third occurrence resulting in dismissal from the company. 
  • Alamo City Dance Company dancers will not engage in any behavior that will be construed to be against David’s Law.

Dress Code
All Dance Company members must wear appropriate dancewear for the genre of dance to be performed every rehearsal. The dress code for the Dance Company is as follows:
 
Ballet
Option 1: Black leotard. Pink footed tights* and pink ballet shoes. Hair worn up in a tight bun. Black skirt optional.
Option 2: White or black fitted T-Shirt. Black bike shorts, tights, or leggings. Black ballet shoes. (If worn without footed tights, black ankle length socks help maintain the integrity of ballet shoes longer.) Hair worn out of the face and eyes.
Jazz, Tap, Hip-Hop, or Modern
Black leotard or fitted shirt. Black bike shorts, convertible tights, leggings, or jazz pants. Tan jazz shoes; tan tap shoes; clean sneakers (only to be worn inside the dance studios); bare feet. (If shoes are worn without footed tights, black ankle length socks help maintain the integrity of shoes longer.) Hair worn out of the face and eyes.
Flamenco/Folklorico
Black leotard or fitted shirt. Skirt appropriate to the genre of dance. (Please contact the instructor or main office for more information.) Black bike shorts, tights, leggings, or jazz pants (to be worn under the skirt, if not in a leotard. Black folklorico/flamenco heeled shoes. (If worn without footed tights, ankle length socks help maintain the integrity of shoes longer.)
Hair worn out of the face and eyes.
 
All dancers are required to be covered up when arriving and leaving Alamo City Arts and any performances they are participating in.

Required Volunteer Hours
ALL COMPANY MEMBERS are required to have a minimum of thirty (30) volunteer hours completed on their behalf.  These hours may be completed by the dancer or by a 3rd party representative that is doing the hours on the dancer’s behalf.  Dancers will be responsible for tracking hours on the volunteer hour sheets in their file folder located in the Alamo City Arts office.  Each hour of work is worth $10. Any hour left uncompleted by May 31st, 2023 will be billed to the dancer.  If the family wishes, they may pay off their hours at any time during the season.  Company members will volunteer at one or more Alamo City Symphony Viva performances.  It is also understood that Company members will help promote upcoming Alamo City Arts productions, via social media or getting promotional material out to the public. 

Financial Commitment
There is no cost to be part of Alamo City Dance Company.  Principals are paid per performance.
 
Company Members will be responsible for a reduced performance fee for performances that are open to public audition:
Soloists: 50% fee discount
Corps de Ballet: 40% fee discount 
Apprentices: 30% fee discount
Trainees: 20% fee discount
 
Dancers that commit to a production and back out for reasons other than injury or illness will be fined a $500 re-choreography fee.

Services for Return by the DANCER: 
Apprentice/Corps de Ballet/Alumni/Soloist/Principal Members are required to participate in 4 performances throughout the season including The Nutcracker, and Spring Production. 
 
Trainee and Jr. Trainee Members are required to participate in 2 performances throughout the season, The Nutcracker, and Spring Production.
