Erin Webber, principal oboe

Erin Webber has lived in San Antonio since 2014. She holds the position of oboe professor at The University of Texas at San Antonio, maintains a substantial private studio and operates a thriving reed business. Webber is an active masterclass clinician in south Texas and is the oboe faculty at the UTSA Summer Band Institute.

As an orchestral player, Webber holds the position of principal oboe with Symphony Viva and is a founding member of the chamber ensemble San Antonio Harmonie. She plays oboe and English horn regularly with the San Antonio Philharmonic, as well as other regional orchestras, and has played in the pit for several local musical theaters.

Webber earned her Master’s in Music Performance from Arizona State University, studying with Professor Martin Schuring, and her Bachelor’s of Music Performance from Western Kentucky University, studying with Dr. Michele Fiala. She counts David Weber of Weber Reeds, Inc, among her mentors. In addition, Webber is a published composer with two compositions available through Trevco-Varner Music under her maiden name of Goad. Her trio, “Overheard on a Saltmarsh,” was premiered at the 2009 IDRS Conference and can be heard on Michele Fiala’s CD, “Overheard.”
